DrupalCon North America is only a week away and is a major part of DrupalFest, a month-long celebration of 20 years of community-driven innovation within the Drupal project. Like last summer’s DrupalCon Global, this event will be all-virtual and open to anyone who wants to participate and learn more about the future of the Drupal project. However, this time the format and content of DrupalCon will look a little different.
Each day of DrupalCon North America will be an Initiative Day devoted to a specific major Drupal effort where key members of the Initiative Team will speak to how their work is contributing to building a better future for digital experiences. The four Initiative Days are:
- Decoupled Menus Day: Tuesday, April 13
- Easy Out of the Box Day: Wednesday, April 14
- Automated Updates Day: Thursday, April 15
- Drupal 10 Readiness Day: Friday, April 16
Following each day’s keynote, attendees will be invited to take part in interactive discussions to learn more about how they can get involved with contributing to the future of Drupal. The push for more active involvement from the community demonstrates the core belief of Drupal and all open source communities that collaboration and promoting a diversity of ideas is the key to accomplishing great things. Acquia is thrilled to be sponsoring DrupalCon and hosting a variety of featured sessions, interactive games and Lightning Talks for our fellow Drupalists.
Each Lightning Talk will be a 20 minute information-packed session covering everything from low code tools to hybrid and decoupled content strategies to how to craft a valuable first-party data strategy. Some Lightning Talk sessions you don’t want to miss include:
- Cloud-based IDE: From Setup to Coding in Minutes
- Composable Commerce Leads the Way
- Understanding Hybrid Decoupled Architecture
- Smarter Machine Learning: Models in CDP

Ending the Feud Between Developers and Marketers
Speakers: Ron Northcutt, Principal Solutions Architect and Mariam Ahmad, Senior Director of Digital Marketing
When: Tuesday, April 13, 11:35AM - 12:05PM
Since the digital age began, there’s been a feud between marketers with ambitious goals and the developers working to support them. This friction can often be a big drain on the team, but it doesn’t have to be. With a composable platform approach, we can both improve communication and increase speed to market. Everybody wins.
Join a developer and a marketer from Acquia to see how our composable approach encourages greater collaboration and efficiency. You’ll learn:
- What the composable platform approach is
- How to initiate conversations from a common place
- How to communicate impact and options for delivery
- How to put together a plan that will achieve business goals
This session is for everyone — developers, marketers, leaders and business users in general. We’ll show you how to implement similar processes and move past this age-old conflict.
Boston Swag and Giving Back to Black Girls Code
Feeling like an expert after attending all these educational sessions? Stop by Acquia’s booth to test your Drupal knowledge by going head to head in trivia against Drupal experts Angie Byron and Gabor Hojtsy. In honor of DrupalCon 2021’s original plan to be hosted in Boston, we’re giving out Boston themed swag boxes to the first 250 people who register attendance at Acquia’s booth.
And if competitions aren’t your thing and you’re looking for a more low-key way to relax and get to know other attendees, we’ll also be hosting a wellness and yoga session Monday, April 12 and Friday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
Stop by, stretch and when you’re done, you can make some memories in our virtual photo booth. For everyone who stops by our booth, we’ll be making a $5 donation to Black Girls Code on their behalf.
