Welcome to our Acquia News & Notes series where we’ll recap top announcements, customer stories and media drivers over the past month!

A new year is a perfect time to pursue new opportunities for improvement and innovation. For Acquia, this means continuing to strengthen our vision of helping brands create world-class customer experiences. So far in 2020, we’ve been engaging customers through powerful, open solutions as well as supporting our own team as they strive for success. Acquia and our partner VMLY&R (Nashville) were named a finalist in the Consumer Category of the DMN Awards for our work on the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development’s Kid Reviewed initiative, which used technology to better understand what experiences brought children joy during their family vacations.

Here are a few other highlights our customers shared this month about how Acquia helped them solve real-life problems.

Portland.gov Engages Residents with Better UX

After completely revamping their nearly two-decade-old website, the Portland.gov team turned to Acquia to bolster resident engagement with a new user and mobile-friendly interface. The project team used open source methods to create a standardized, accessible product. Discussing the project with GovernmentTechnology, Joshua Mitchell of Portland’s Technology  Oversight Committee said, “From a technical standpoint, I think we truly have one of the more successful implementations of continuous integration and continuous development that I’ve seen in the government space.”

Bowlero Bowls a Strike with Multi-Brand Digital Governance

Bowlero Corporation, the world’s largest owner and operator of bowling centers, approached Acquia to help them drive more customer conversions through a winning approach to multi-brand digital governance. With over 300 locations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Bowlero needed a way to represent the unique features at each facility on individual sites while improving opportunities for cross-promotions and registrations on their online booking tool.
Acquia and development consultancy Avantia helped Bowlero re-platform and relaunch all four of its brand websites and integrate transactional components into the back-end. The result? In just five months since the launch Bowlero has reported a 79% increase in conversion rate year-over-year! As CMS Wire reports, “The Acquia platform and Content Hub empowered editors to become more nimble and manage all content in one instance across all brands.”

This month, we were once again named as one of the Best Places to Work by Built In Boston for our continued efforts to engage employees in the workplace. We’re among good company at the heart of the booming Boston tech scene. In a Boston Globe piece on the future of technology and transformation, OpenView Partner Devon McDonald cited Acquia as one of the standout technology organizations on a path for growth: “Boston has all the ingredients to become the next global tech capital — brilliant minds from top schools, a new generation of leaders from great tech companies born in the 2000s (like Hubspot, Acquia, Endeca, etc.).”

Among the many diverse tech organizations transforming the industry, Acquia offers a unique value proposition built on our open and flexible approach to digital experience. Check out some notable coverage on how Acquia is delivering on its promise to shape the consumer experiences that people want through our open philosophy and strategic acquisition of new technology such as Acquia CDP:

  • “We believe in open systems, we spend a lot of time building systems that can be easily integrated with other platforms,” Acquia CEO, Mike Sullivan said. “There’s such a diverse set of tools that people want to use and we just think it’s really, really appealing; we think this is the future of software.” -CMS-Connected
  • “[The] CDP will give Acquia a competitive advantage because the software can intelligently segment customers and predict customer behaviors. With Acquia CDP together, brands can create a unified customer profile using data from all of their back-end systems.” - CMSWire

Looking ahead, Acquia is continuing to empower today’s brands to reach people through open and flexible digital technology. Check back next month for the latest news and innovations from the Acquia newsroom.
