Steps for Performing Your D8 to D9 Upgrade

Meet System Requirements

Make sure your host supports the system requirements for Drupal 9. Drupal 9 has been supported on the Acquia platform since before its release.

Run Upgrade Status

The Upgrade Status module (sponsored by Acquia) provides a personalized dashboard with remaining items to do.

Get On The Latest Versions

Update to the latest versions of Drupal 8 core and your contributed modules; often times, the latest version of a module is compatible with both Drupal 8 and Drupal 9. Check our overview of Drupal 9 module readiness

Upgrade Custom Code

Drupal 9 deprecated certain APIs, and your custom code will need to use the new APIs instead. Use the Rector tool to automatically make many of these code changes.
