Senseonics Holdings, Inc. is a medical technology company focused on the design, development and commercialization of transformational glucose monitoring products designed to help people with diabetes confidently live their lives with ease. The Eversense® CGM System is the first FDA approved implantable CGM sensor for people with Type 1 diabetes.
Senseonics was seeking to develop a new website to incorporate two separate corporate and product sites and to tailor specific content to each of its three different target audiences: Consumers, Medical Providers and Insurance Providers. As the company sells globally, they needed a website that supports users in different countries, addressing both language and country-specific product and regulatory guidelines. The site would need to be scalable to support business growth while still allowing marketing and content stakeholders to manage it. And, it needed to offer a clean, intuitive, easy to navigate design to enable users to find the right content at the right time and decrease the need for calls to the customer care team.
After spending 15 years perfecting the Eversense product and receiving European and US FDA approval, the focus was then on gaining insurance carrier plan coverage, creating awareness with providers, building consumer trust and a patient base, etc. All of this had to be completed fairly quickly with limited internal resources and budget.
Senseonics' partner, R2integrated, began the project with a comprehensive research and discovery effort including stakeholder and target user interviews, persona creation, personalization, analytics, SEO and content strategy. The Acquia Cloud Platform enabled seamless content management so that the development teams could focus on customizations and implementation rather than infrastructure and hosting. Acquia Lightning out of the box tools enabled a short ramp up time and faster development. R2integrated incorporated a vibrant, responsive design that supports visitors from different countries, addressing both language variances and country specific product and regulatory guidelines.
The new site has enabled Senseonics to foster knowledge, increase brand awareness and educate constituents on the Eversense system resulting in noteworthy adoption, retention and adherence rates. There is reduced call frequency to support teams and bounce rates have decreased by 25%. At the same time, the site experiences increased new, return and referred site visits, more pages visited per session, and time spent on the site by 57%.
