The Client

Sarepta is on an urgent mission: engineer precision genetic medicine for rare diseases that devastate lives and cut futures short. The company holds leadership positions in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMDs), and it currently has more than 40 programs in various stages of development. Its vast pipeline is driven by its multiplatform Precision Genetic Medicine Engine in gene therapy, RNA, and gene editing.

The Situation

Sarepta Therapeutics needed a new website to reflect the company's evolution from a research organization to a treatment provider. It was looking to redesign and rebuild its site to better suit a global audience, accurately portray its key corporate messaging, speak to its primary audiences, and appropriately integrate its technologies and disease states.

The Challenge

With developments in over 20 programs across various disease areas, creating a series of microsites that met each targeted location’s language and cultural needs while maintaining a cohesive ecosystem that acted as a secure technical hub was challenging.

The Solution

Marketing agency Boston Digital led the redesign process, analyzing Sarepta’s core site and disparate websites to better understand its research and treatment offerings and deciphering which components best fit into the ecosystem. The team held multiple shareholder meetings to identify requirements and collaboratively define an overarching approach.

Using Acquia’s solutions to stabilize Sarepta’s hosting environment and build a secure platform, Boston Digital developed an ecosystem of Sarepta’s corporate site and multiple global disease awareness and drug sites. It populated the content and enabled a workflow to provide Sarepta’s team with a seamless shift and streamline the content approval processes. Additionally, it optimized the sites for global SEO to expose opportunities for growth on search, executed multilingual features to ensure ease of use and accurate translation, and rethemed the front end to make it mobile-responsive and user-friendly.
 

The Results

Boston Digital delivered a seamless build for every Sarepta website. Six months post-launch, the site has seen:
