The company’s portfolio is organized into six segments: Chemicals, Materials, Industrial Solutions, Surface Technologies, Nutrition & Care and Agricultural Solutions. BASF Group employs approximately 110,000 individuals in nearly all sectors and almost every country in the world.
The Situation
BASF Agriculture APAC knew that its website’s users needed current, updated and engaging farming content. The company realized that it needed an easy-to-use platform with a scalable architecture and multilingual features to allow for deployment in multiple countries.
The Challenge
BASF Agriculture APAC was previously using Adobe Experience Manager, a centralized platform built by the global office. Unfortunately, this led to a less-than-ideal authoring experience; it took considerable effort to update site content. Additionally, because it was globally managed, changes and fixes were extremely slow.
The Solution
BASF partnered with Pixel Onion for its digital transformation journey. The teams developed a digital strategy for APAC countries: to have a single, scalable platform that was easy to deploy quickly while allowing the flexibility of different configurations, languages and types of content. Then, the teams proceeded with UX design, understanding the end users' journey flow and addressing both content administrators' and end users' needs.
With buy-in from BASF’s regional head of communication, Pixel Onion broke down the silos of each country working individually to create their own websites. The team started with just three countries and now has 15 countries on the same Acquia Cloud Platform using the same codebase.
The Results
Compared to its previous solution, BASF Agriculture APAC has experienced unprecedented scalability and a significant increase in the speed of launching new pages and new country sites. Staffers can now create new content within hours instead of days.
