DrupalCon Global 2020 is next week, and this event marks a new frontier for the Drupal community as the first all-virtual convention in DrupalCon’s 15-year history. While the COVID-19 pandemic may have disrupted our plans, the online format has opened new opportunities to share the learning and experiences with Drupalists who may never have had the chance to attend in person.
With over 100 sessions, discussions, mini-summits and networking activities to choose from each day, we can’t wait to see the innovative digital experiences the world’s most passionate Drupal users are building. As a DrupalCon sponsor, Acquia is excited to contribute to these conversations with featured sessions, quick and informative Lightning Talks and, as per DrupalCon tradition, tons of interactive trivia!
Acquians are also eager to attend to hear the latest on Drupal 9 and the path ahead, discuss digital transformation challenges with industry leaders and discover new perspectives on the power of open source. We’ve seen how the web brings people together and empowers them to defy all limitations. Now we get to experience that with a DrupalCon that is more accessible and more open than ever before. Here are just a few things Acquians are most looking forward to at DrupalCon Global:
“This is a historic DrupalCon. I'm excited to be able to see more sessions than I would normally be able to, but I'm a little sad I won't get to see friends and colleagues in person. I'm hopeful the online venue will bring in even more people than usual from around the world. I'm looking forward to the Driesnote and sessions about what's next for Drupal in 9 and 10. I'll definitely be checking out the Decoupled Summit.”
-Peter Weber, Senior Software Engineer
“I’m excited to see my Drupal friends and ‘family’ who I've been missing so terribly these past few months! I hope to see lots of new faces who've never been able to attend a DrupalCon before, now that travel and lodging costs are not a factor for attendance.”
-Angie "webchick" Byron, Senior Director, Product + Community Development
“This is my favorite event of the year — a chance to make connections with other developers that are passionate about Drupal and its growing community while enjoying all the great content and presentations. Each year at DrupalCon, I'm so excited to see and meet everyone that I don't spend enough time in the sessions. I'm excited to have a virtual conference this year, to help me focus on all the time and effort that was put into the presentations and material. I also wanted to shout out that I'm open to mentoring, training and general consulting to help the adoption of Drupal.”
-Thomas Scola, Senior Technical Account Manager / TAM Leadership
-Marvin Oey, Solution Engineer
“I'm excited to see what innovative solutions the Drupal Association staff and exhibitors come up with for engaging the virtual audience. I was thinking this time it might be easier to get a good night's sleep since virtual sessions are theoretically easier to ‘turn off.’ But then again, it might not be!”
-Katherine Druckman, Software Engineer
“I can’t wait to catch up with friends and colleagues, meet some people who wouldn’t be able to attend the original in-person event and check out the session, ‘Creating Layouts and Landing Pages for Drupal 8’".
-Ted Bowman, Principal Software Engineer
“I'll be keeping an eye out to see what's different about the event now that we will have so much more of the global Drupal community present. I've attended both DrupalCon North America and DrupalCon Europe in the past and it was neat to experience a slightly different vibe.”
-Gabriel Sullice, Principal Software Engineer
