Acquia Expands Presence in Asia Pacific, Opens Tokyo-based Operations

Company Adds Yoshiyuki Ueda, formerly of CI&T, to Lead Expansion

Tokyo – December 13, 2018 -- Digital experience company Acquia today announced the expansion of its Asia-Pacific presence to Japan and the opening of a new regional office in Tokyo.

Acquia also announced the appointment of Yoshiyuki Ueda as the company’s sales director in Japan. Ueda will be responsible for accelerating market adoption of Acquia’s portfolio of platform applications that power world-class digital experiences throughout the region. Ueda joins Acquia with 20 years experience in enterprise software and services, and was most recently business director for CI&T in Japan.

Demand for enterprise digital experience solutions is driving Acquia’s growth in Japan. Brands increasingly require solutions that help solve digital marketing challenges, which in turn is driving momentum and opportunity for Acquia’s open source digital experience solutions. Acquia provides a cloud platform for Drupal, the open source web content management solution. More than 1.1 million websites use Drupal today. The project is supported by a large community of more than 113,000 people who are actively contributing to Drupal.

The Acquia Experience Platform offers a set of cloud-based technologies for building Drupal-based digital experiences. It supports Node.js to help deliver on the promise of decoupled applications that can use Drupal as a back-end. It empowers digital teams to manage digital experience delivery in the cloud while optimizing how experiences are tailored for specific audiences intelligently using machine learning.

These capabilities are complemented by an API-first architectural approach designed to allow companies the freedom to integrate third-party data sources and systems to maximize existing investments.  As a result, enterprises can build and own their digital solutions based on the best technology for them, rather than licensing and locking them into monolithic vendors.

Key customers for Acquia include Astellas Pharma Inc. and Ocean Network Express Pte.Ltd. Acquia’s expanding ecosystem of digital agency partners, system integrators, and Drupal consultancies include ANNAI, CI&T, Dentsu Isobar, Digital Circus,  Genero, Hakuhodo Product’s, Kanden System Solutions, MRM//McCann, NTT Resonant, and Underworks.

“Global brands require scalable, secure solutions to power their digital initiatives. With greater demand throughout Japan for Drupal-based solutions, we’re excited for the opportunities to help accelerate market growth for open source digital experience solutions,” said Jairo Romero, chief revenue officer at Acquia. “Ueda’s experience in bringing digital solutions to market for Japan’s largest organizations will be invaluable as we continue to build our business across the Asia Pacific region.”

Acquia has four offices in the Asia Pacific region serving customers including Astellas Pharmaceuticals, Mediacorp and Brisbane City Council. Last month, Acquia was named a Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management for the fifth consecutive year.
