Welcome to our Acquia News & Notes series where we’ll recap top announcements, customer stories and media drivers over the past month!

Did you hear the exciting news?! Acquia received a majority investment from Vista Equity Partners and while we’re pretty excited about this news, the media is too! Bloomberg was the first to report the news, noting that Acquia is “leading the way in providing innovative solutions to its customers,” according to Vista’s CEO, Chairman, and Founder, Robert Smith. From there, we saw coverage in TechCrunch, The Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, TechRadar and more. Some notable takeaways from the announcement:

  • "Acquia stands out in its billion-dollar competitors because its Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is built on open-source software through Drupal, the content management system that powers 1.27% of the world's websites (ninth-most of all CMSes). "- CMSWire
  • “With Vista’s backing, Acquia will accelerate “taking on legacy digital experience (DXP) providers to capture new market share even faster with the world’s most ambitious brands,” said Mike Sullivan, the company’s president and CEO. Acquia serves more than 30 companies in the Fortune 100.” - Channel Futures
  • "The increased interest from PE is not only a good thing for the local economy and the early investors; it's also good for the companies themselves, which can usually retain independence." - Boston Business Journal

While we’re really excited about the Vista news, we also had a busy month in other ways as well. We announced the acquisition of Cohesion, creator of DX8, the first enterprise-grade, low-code Drupal website builder. Our CTO and co-founder Dries Buytaert spoke with Information Age about the importance of this news as it relates to building websites and Acquia’s relationship with Drupal. Buytaert notes, “A combination of Drupal and Aquia can make you quite agile, giving you faster innovation. By using Drupal you tap into the Drupal community — with over 8,000 individuals and 8,000 company contributors. “This community is very large and active sharing what they are doing.” ITBrief and ChannelPro also covered the news.

Acquia was also recognized for its continued growth and strong leadership by leading industry organizations.  We were included in the Forbes Cloud 100 for the fourth consecutive year and Heather Hartford is a finalist for MassTLC CPO of the Year.

To recap, it’s been an extremely busy (and fun!) past month here at Acquia but there’s even more to look forward to in October. In particular, we’re hosting an “Ask Me Anything” Q&A session with Drupal’s founder and Acquia’s CTO himself, Dries Buytaert. You can use this page to register and submit your questions ahead of time. We hope to see you all there.
