How manifesto Took WaterAid From 22 Sites to 1

WaterAid exists to change the landscape of water around the world. Its digital estate was working against that. The charity ran 22 separate websites, one for each of the 22 countries it operates in, none of them quite consistent with the brand. That meant 22 things to maintain, 22 places for a story to live, and 22 sets of overhead for an organization whose money is meant to go somewhere else entirely.

In this video, the team at manifesto, the digital experience agency behind the rebuild, walks through the consolidation. All 22 country sites moved onto Acquia Cloud Platform, which took on the whole estate with no need for the team to plan around traffic. One platform. One CMS holding the entirety of WaterAid's web presence rather than 22 versions of it.

The payoff shows up across the business. A campaign built for one country can be reused in another rather than rebuilt from scratch. Editors work in a single system instead of learning their way around 22 of them. And the time and money that used to go into running 22 separate websites is freed to go somewhere WaterAid would far rather spend it.

Lower overhead was the point from the start. manifesto set out to get more of the charity's money to the work itself, and moving 22 sites onto one platform is how they got there. Watch the full story to hear the team on what a global charity can do once its websites stop competing with its mission for budget.
