Culture in Action

A positive work culture is one that can evolve with the best interests of its people and recognize opportunities to do more. In our effort to strengthen our culture and continue to make Acquia the best place to work for all current and future employees, we have revisited and refreshed our core Acquia DNA categories. These value statements reflect our commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Going forward, Acquia’s five main cultural DNA statements are: Do the Right Thing, Jump in and Own it, Give Back More, Committed to Awesome and Dare to Be Different. Below you’ll see how Acquians have been demonstrating these values and inspiring each other to achieve more together.

#DareToBeDifferent: Investing in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Acquia, we believe in authenticity and embracing unique perspectives, backgrounds and circumstances throughout our global workforce. We’ve joined the Tech Compact for Social Justice led by MassTLC as a way to bring about actionable change to our culture and our ongoing hiring efforts.

As part of this continuous push toward progress, we’ve launched an Employee Resource Group (ERG) Network to provide a platform for employees to support one another and share experiences and resources. We understand that we have a duty to promote underrepresented groups and fight against social injustice and discrimination. To learn more about the steps we’ve begun toward this goal, you can see our blog detailing our DEI efforts.

#DoTheRightThing: Family Resources and Work-Life Balance

The start of September for many Acquians marked the back-to-school season and a number of new challenges for many working parents and caregivers. The ongoing COVID-19 situation has meant many families are balancing work, school and caretaking responsibilities. Acquia wants to help those who need additional assistance through resources and programs designed to support families and allow our employees to feel less overwhelmed and more productive at work.

We are continuing to support our global remote workforce and offer flexible work arrangements for employees who may need to adjust their schedule to accommodate other responsibilities such as childcare or homeschooling during traditional work hours. Acquia’s leadership is extending support to working family members and caregivers through a pilot KiwiCo Craft Subscription for 6 months. KiwiCo is a monthly craft delivery service that sends families a brand new craft project meant to spark creativity and innovation.

#GiveBackMore:

Beyond the responsibility we feel to support our fellow Acquians and their families during this time, Acquia also recognizes that we can make a positive impact on our wider global community. We recently launched our Give Back More (GBM) Committee to boost our volunteer efforts and focus on opportunities for further tech mentorship for underserved communities.

As part of this effort, Acquia partnered with Year Up, a nonprofit organization with a mission to close the opportunity divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experiences and support that will empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education. Members of Acquia’s Talent Team facilitated a Year Up seminar hosted by Year Up on how to deliver best practices on professional branding for young professionals entering the corporate world.

#CommittedToAwesome

Acquians in EMEA continued their monthly photography contest, this time featuring some help from their furry friends! From dogs to cats to cows, it brightened everyone’s day to see an album of their coworkers’ cuddly companions.

Acquia India held their latest Virtual Wellness Session with Dr. Deeba Khan, a consulting physiotherapist and certified pilates instructor. Dr. Deeba shared insights on the importance of ergonomics: exercises that can help workers cope with bodily stress and prevent injury. Acquians and their families tuned in to learn quick stretching exercises that can be done in between work to take care of oneself while working remotely.
