Culture in Action

Employee Appreciation Day kicked off the start of the month on March 5th, which is a day where people around the world are recognized for their commitment and contributions to the workplace. Acquia values the successes and achievements of our employees and continues to recognize our team’s commitment to our people. We are excited to share that we have been honored amongst India's Top 10 Best Workplaces in Health and Wellness for 2020-21. This award is an affirmation of the "people-first" culture we’ve built in India, which in turn fosters employee wellness along with professional growth and development.

Take a look at some events Acquia has hosted this month and how we’ve been creating a more inclusive and supportive workplace within Acquia and the greater community.

#CommittedToAwesome: International Women’s Day / Women’s History Month

On March 8th, we recognized International Women’s Day multiple ways. We were very excited that it was our new Vice President of Talent Acquisition’s first day. Denise Lam took a few minutes to host a quick video with Sarita Peterson from our Talent Acquisition team to discuss what attracted her to Acquia, share what International Women’s Day means to her and provide some advice for women interested in a career in technology.

Acquians also shared their appreciation for the women who have made a difference in their lives through mentorship, teamwork and perseverance. Throughout the month, our Women of Acquia Employee Resource Group shared important accomplishments of different women throughout history and invited Acquians to give their advice for creating a more gender inclusive space in the technology industry

In honor of our ongoing commitment to an inclusive workplace, the women of Acquia India got together to celebrate each other by taking 60 minutes out of their day for themselves to get up from their desks with a fun fitness activity. Women of Acquia India attended a virtual Zumba session, “Women's Day Celebration with Zumba!” with fitness coach, Divya Subodh. The hour was full of dance, Bollywood hits and lots of smiles while we learned some new moves.

#DareToBeDifferent: Empowering Women in the Workplace

As part of our ongoing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education Program, Acquia was pleased to support this webinar opportunity hosted by BetterUp, “Forging Equality: Empowering Women in the Workplace.”

The webinar featured a live conversation with Reshma Saujani, Founder and CEO of Girls Who Code, and Laura Brady, Global Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Anheuser-Busch Inbev, as they explored how leaders can help uplift women in the workplace. Attendees learned how companies could take action by addressing the challenges women face, accelerate the representation of women in the leadership pipeline and implement evidence-based solutions to drive career development.

#Teamwork and Remote Team Bonding

To continue our positive learnings while working as a dispersed population, we hosted our very popular Speed Meeting gatherings this month. This experience, hosted across our different global time zones, invites anyone in the company to join and participate in ice-breakers, guessing games, and other activities designed to promote communication, trust and connection. We continue to receive positive feedback on this fun event from around the world and all departments, and look forward to more!
