Security Through Innovation

Acquia Security Products

For customers on the Acquia Platform, we offer additional layers of security on top of our built-in protection. The Acquia Cloud Edge family of products includes Acquia Cloud Edge Protect and Acquia Cloud Edge CDN. We also offer Acquia Cloud Shield, an isolated section of Acquia Cloud. Download the Security Through Innovation here.

Acquia Cloud Edge Protect

Acquia Cloud Edge Protect mitigates the effects of DDoS and application level attacks for our Acquia Cloud Enterprise (ACE) and Acquia Cloud Site Factory (ACSF) customers.

Acquia Cloud Edge Protect is a layer of security between the site visitor and the web application that blocks attack traffic before it can reach your applications. Our global network of data centers and web application firewalls (WAF) ensure a higher level of website availability, enabling you to keep your site up and running, even during an attack. Delivering an uninterrupted user experience in turn allows you to build a higher level of trust with your end users.

As one CIO put it, “It doesn’t matter how fast the site is if it’s unavailable.” Check out this white paper for a deeper dive into the Edge Protect framework and security features.

Acquia Cloud Edge CDN

Acquia Cloud Edge CDN provides a global content delivery network (CDN) that accelerates the delivery of your site to visitors, wherever they may be.

It caches static content, and reduces the effects of network latency, allowing your visitors to enjoy a streamlined browsing experience. Acquia Cloud Edge CDN’s global network of data centers bring your content closer to your site’s visitors, and optimizes content for any and all devices, browsers, and bandwidth capacities.

Edge CDN simply delivers a faster user experience, increasing site visitor engagement. This white paper offers an in-depth look at the architecture and capabilities of Edge CDN.

Acquia Cloud Shield

Acquia Cloud Shield is a dedicated, logically isolated environment within Acquia Cloud that has a customizable network configuration.

Shield combines the security benefits of a private isolated network with the efficiency benefits of a cloud environment, and allows you to leverage Acquia Cloud as an extension of your data center while maintaining security. No other customer sites are in your individual Shield environment, providing you with additional levels of security and isolation.

Shield introduces a layer of private routing that obscures enterprise traffic from the public internet. It provides your business with an isolated and private network through which all intrasystem traffic can be routed. Shield gives you fine-grained control over your virtual networking environment, including selection of your own IP address range. Only approved traffic can pass through the appropriate service ports on the public interface, while no unauthorized outbound ports can be opened to create security breaches.

Acquia Cloud Shield is suitable for every type of site, and is highly recommended in a few specific use cases, including multi-tier web services, data center-to-web connections, and content repositories. Download the Acquia Cloud Shield datasheet.

Acquia Cloud VPC Family

Data is the lifeblood of your organization, and at Acquia, we recognize the importance of the proper classification of information and handling of data. Our ‘Acquia Cloud VPC Family’ is a suite of virtual private cloud (VPC) products designed to provide elevated and compliant protection for sensitive data.

The Acquia Cloud VPC Family includes separate VPCs for sensitive data types, including:

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Protected Health Information (PHI and HIPAA)
  • Credit Card Data (Cardholder data - PCI)

Each of these VPC’s provides the level of protection required to meet regulatory and compliance requirements for that specific type of data, including PCI-DSS and HIPAA requirements. Depending on the type of data your business is handling, required features could include data encryption, dedicated instances, or full multi-tier hardware configuration. In cases where PII requirements vary by state and country, Acquia will work with you to best meet the needs of those requirements.
