Challenge

The website, which was last redesigned in 2009, was overdue for a redesign. Crispin Cider, and parent company MillerCoors, wanted a site that conveyed an attitude of fun and innovation, and a growing emphasis on social and environmental sustainability. The company also wanted to provide users with a simplified navigational structure and a more mobile-friendly interface. An approval workflow was also required, so that the site could comply with MillerCoors Digital Policy Guidelines.

Approach

The team leveraged Acquia products and tools to provide content editors a flexible way to create custom page layouts. They did this by enabling the content team to use predefined components that they could easily add content to, and stack on the page. Interchangeable components were used to allow for unique page creation based on Crispin Cider’s brand needs. Drupal Workbench was implemented to enable an efficient content approval workflow. The project team used a modified agile approach, staggering design and development sprints every two weeks. The designs were created and approved before handoff to the development team for the build.

Results

  • The overall project took just 12 weeks to complete from start to finish.
  • A 5 percent increase in visitor traffic via mobile devices (compared to previous time periods)
  • A 25 percent increase in page views per visit (compared to previous time periods)
  • Site speed has been increased, and the time it takes to publish new content has been drastically reduced.
  • The site is now responsive, with a simplified navigation.
  • Site editors are using a streamlined workflow that incorporates compliance with MillerCoors Digital Policy Guidelines.
