Drupal for Web Experience Management: Enabling Efficient Translation and Localization
Drupal provides the most simple, yet powerful platform for Digital Marketers to create meaningful and impactful Web Experiences for their customers. In an increasingly online and connected world, creating these experiences requires delivering content and campaigns outside of your local markets to help facilitate market expansion and capture new revenue opportunities. Accurate, timely, and operationally efficient website translation is a core competency for companies that need to connect effectively across traditional language barriers in a meaningful way. Web Experience Management solutions powered by Drupal empower Digital Marketing organizations to efficiently manage translation workflows while offering the flexibility to make changes that reflect local market conditions.
This partcular site and the associated content had originally been published in English only by the content creator in the main office. However, now the content needs to be published into multiple geographic markets where the content may also be relevant in driving new sales. In this case there are multiple markets that require translation services, Web Experience Management solutions built on the Drupal platform allows you to create either bespoke content for different markets targeted by language use, or to link translations of the same content into multiple languages together. It provides translation capabilities directly so marketing managers can engage human translation for a localized version or tie into a translation services like LingoTek to provide professional translation, crowd sourced translation or machine based translation.
Here the marketing manager is engaged in a simple manual translation process. We click on translate where we can see there are English and Spanish libraries installed and we click on Add translation. Since this is a manual translation, we get a copy of our English content first, and then manually translate the content into the Spanish localized version. We aren’t just limited to changing out text, we can also add inline images or media uploaded from a desktop or directly from the web. Drupal can easily pull in media directly from internet sources. It can also make a local copy and resize it in an optimized format using predefined image presets.
The translated content can then be placed through a translation workflow and moderation process before it gets published live. We aren’t limited to publishing across multiple languages or local geographies, we can also manage multiple Drupal based websites. Here we click on the new draft button and we scroll down to show options for the manager to send off to all the affiliated sites, or select only certain sites to publish to.
