Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti announced the launch of Hollywood's first interactive, way-finding website -- NavigateHollywood.com -- during his 2009 annual State of Hollywood luncheon at The Music Box Theatre. Developed and designed to help all navigate their way to, through and out of Hollywood, NavigateHollywood.com provides information on parking access, public transportation, taxis, bike amenities, and street closures in Hollywood. It is also the first item to be completed on Council President Garcetti's Hollywood Transportation Strategic Plan.
"NavigateHollywood.com is a one-stop shop for transit information in Hollywood," Council President Garcetti said. "From where to find parking for your car or bike, to where to get a cab, to which Metro stop to use, NavigateHollywood.com provides the community with an interactive, informational resource that will enhance everyone’s experience in Hollywood."
Spearheaded by the Hollywood Property Owners Alliance, NavigateHollywood.com was developed with the user in mind and designed to be the first place people go before coming to -- or traveling through -- Hollywood. The conceptualization of the Navigate Hollywood website first surfaced at community meetings more than a year ago, when community leaders and representatives recognized a need to create a single place to house information on upcoming street closures in Hollywood.
A unique feature of NavigateHollywood.com is that it provides site visitors with the option to sign up to receive e-mail or text message notifications on upcoming street closures and special events in Hollywood. In a town where movie premieres and special events can sometimes shut down portions of both Hollywood & Sunset Boulevards, this feature is key.
