Siteworx was engaged by Acquia and the Department of Homeland Security to complete the design, configuration, development and deployment of the Deepwater Horizon response site, http://www.restorethegulf.com. Siteworx extended existing designs for the new site while ensuring 508 compliance, as per the Federal agency’s requirements. With a significantly compressed timeline and multiple requirements, including integration of outbound messaging and a content delivery network (CDN), Siteworx successfully delivered the full-featured site, optimizing the site for citizen engagement (RSS feeds, photo and video gallery embeds, etc.) while maximizing usability and findability through integration of the open source Solr enterprise search solution. From a content management perspective, the site supports secure authentication for content owners, clear separation of content and presentation layers as well as the future ability to efficiently support multilingual content management. Siteworx also provided hands-on, facilitated training for DHS content management administrators as well as full project management and facilitation from design through implementation.
