Motorola

Challenge

In 2013 Motorola launched the Moto Maker™, a platform that allowed customer to customize their devices their way. They needed a digital platform to match. Motorola selected Drupal to build a global digital platform that offered a mobile first mindset and an engaging customer experience.

Approach

Motorola adopted Acquia Cloud as a service to support the integration of Drupal Content Management System with a commercial eCommerce API. CI&T, a partnering digital agency, aided in coordinating site design and research including new front-end and WCMS capabilities in Drupal.

Results

  • Full front-end eCommerce experience migrated to Drupal for several countries, including the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Mexico, and Brazil.
  • With Drupal Multi-Site, Motorola was able to easily deploy over 30 regional sites in areas including Australia, Canada, China, Italy and Russia.
  • Drupal’s rich CMS capabilities allowed Motorola to deliver consumer experiences that are omnipresent as well as personalized content that is timely and relevant.
  • By using Drupal as the front-end user experience, Motorola was able to increase the scalability by decoupling content management from the eCommerce backend.
  • By leveraging Acquia Cloud, CI&T is able to deliver new functionality every 2 weeks in a dedicated environment for integration testing.
  • Motorola was able to reduce dependency on IT by using tailored Drupal CMS tools to optimize business processes for merchandising and content syndication.
