Culture in Action

This month we announced that Acquia was recognized as one of The Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work for 2020. This award represents companies that are going the extra mile to make their workplaces more equitable and to help employees connect with one another and their communities. Top Places to Work recognizes the most admired workplaces in the state of Massachusetts based on the results of employee surveys. The surveys measured employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits and engagement.

On November 25, we also announced that our Acquia India office received the honor of being named a Top 25 Great Place to Work in IT & IT-BPM by the Great Place to Work® Institute. This award celebrates organizations that have created a High-Trust, High-Performance Culture for their employees. To earn this certification, Acquians in our India office were asked to give feedback on how they felt Acquia embraced a people-first culture and encouraged an environment of trust, transparency and collaboration for employees. “We’re always surrounded by positive and self-motivated people, and Acquia does a lot to promote work-life balance and provide transparency from leadership, which makes it a great place to work,” said Ganesh Devkate, Senior Developer in Pune, India.

Receiving these recognitions is a testament to our ongoing commitment to building the best place to work. We’re thrilled to see how Acquians are going out and demonstrating our core values and helping each other do more no matter where they are or what challenges they’re facing.

#GiveBackMore Showing Thanks and Supporting Local Communities

In the United States, November is a time when people often try to show their appreciation for their friends and family and give back in celebration of Thanksgiving. Our Boston office is participating in efforts to support the Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual food drive. Acquians can donate and make a difference from home by buying meals for others in need.

This month, Acquia also participated in and sponsored MautiCon, the first global, virtual conference for members of the Mautic community. As part of our sponsorship, we made a donation to Black Girls Code, a nonprofit organization with a mission of increasing the number of women of color in STEM fields through resources, training and career development opportunities.

We recently launched the Acquia DNA Award nominations and DNA Storytelling program. Both of these initiatives offer Acquians a platform to recognize the great work their colleagues are doing to live up to our core company values. By sharing stories of teamwork, innovation and creativity, we hope to inspire others to celebrate our mutual successes.

To kick off the DNA Storytelling, Tonia Rodriguez,  Customer Success Manager in our UK office, discussed her involvement in our Expert Services Mentoring Program. This professional development program brings together Acquians across different departments to share their expertise and teach others new skills. “Born out of a shared desire to learn, the program originally targeted technical roles in customer success, but was soon extended across teams, further emphasizing our need to collaborate cross-functionally. This makes me proud of our commitment to helping each other be the best we can be,” said Tonia.

This year, Acquia proved we were stronger together through our commitment to diversity and inclusion by joining forces with other companies to support underrepresented groups, taking steps to remove bias in our hiring practices and making sure employees can share their perspectives and benefit from educational resources. As a global workplace, Acquia has also prioritized all of our employees' well-being as they adjust to working remotely during the pandemic. We recognize the added responsibilities and stress people are facing to serve as parents, caregivers and teachers from their homes and have implemented services and benefits that we hope help ease these obstacles.

People learn best when they believe in the values and mission of their workplace and they trust that leadership will be transparent, accessible and empathetic. At Acquia, we believe we are part of a wide-reaching global community and that we are at our best when we work together to keep moving forward.
