Acquia employees opening Pune office

Acquia Culture in Action, July 2019

While we pride ourselves on our top-notch technical skills, the true heart of Acquia has always been our people. Our vision is brought to life by smart and driven team members who learn from each other and seek out every opportunity to make an impact. This June, Acquia was honored with a Best Leadership Team award from Comparably for our work helping every employee learn and grow toward success. We understand great leadership is only possible with the support and contributions of each individual, which is why our new monthly “Culture in Action” series shines the spotlight on how our employees are reaching their goals and furthering our mission to build extraordinary experiences.

#GiveBackMore

As part of our company DNA, we contribute to causes we care about and provide resources that improve people’s lives every day. Here are a few of the ways Acquia has been able to give back recently.

At our annual Engage Europe event, we held charity fundraisers with Cancer Research UK and WaterAid. Acquia pledged to match every contribution made throughout the event. In just two days, we were able to raise a combined total of £3,432 ($4,315) toward supporting cancer survival research and better access to clean, reliable water.

Acquians in the Reading, UK office volunteered time and donated to the local children's charity, Camp Mohawk, an organization that offers a safe space and activities for children with special needs and mobility issues. The facility provides families with recreational areas, including a heated outdoor swimming pool with wheelchair access, sensory areas, outdoor play frames and playhouses. Our team visited the campsite to help mulch, paint and clean the outside areas to get it ready for the summer. Acquia has supported Camp Mohawk for nearly four years now and is thrilled to take part in creating classic childhood memories.

Growing #StrongerTogether with Our Global Community

On June 26, we officially opened the doors to our brand new office in Pune, India! We marked this milestone with an inauguration ceremony featuring a ribbon cutting, lamp lighting and lots of cake eating. As Acquia expands our global footprint and starts a new journey, we’re proud to play a role in helping the Pune region become one of the fastest growing digital experience centers globally.

We also extended our company presence across new borders with our expansion of services in the Latin American market, working with partners throughout Mexico and Brazil to design innovative digital experiences. This new growth was celebrated with a breakfast that brought together our LATAM partners to discuss their shared vision for the region.

#InspiringCrazy: Employee Spotlight

Acquians aren’t just making a difference from 9 to 5! Our diverse and talented group of employees dedicates time to creative hobbies, feats of athleticism and lending a hand to their local communities. Our employee spotlight acknowledges the unique ways our coworkers are doing more beyond the office.

Silverio competing in a Tough Mudder

This month we’re spotlighting senior enterprise account executive, Silvério Governo. Silvério, who has been part of the Acquia team in Reading, UK since 2017, is competing in seven Tougher Mudders across the UK from May to September to raise funds for HemiChat, a charity dedicated to hemiplegia awareness and supporting families living with that particular form of cerebral palsy. These Tough Mudders will each consist of a 10-mile (16km) obstacle course race, through mud, freezing waters and difficult terrain. The donations from Silvério’s races will be used to support thousands of children around the world with hemiplegia, including Silverio’s own son, Fraser. We’re inspired by Silverio’s dedication to his cause and will be cheering his efforts along the way.

#CommittedtoAwesome Summer Fun

portland party

A huge part in ensuring Acquians feel supported and able to meet their goals is making sure we take the time to step away from our projects, unwind and make memories with each other outside of a conference room. Last week, our Portland team got into the swing of things with mini-golf, Jenga and lawn games at Hotel deLuxe’s 19th Hole pop-up venue! According to Acquia’s Portland office manager Emily Miller, “It was pouring rain but that didn't stop us from having fun!” And coming up, we’re excited for the Boston Summer Bash. Make sure to check back next month to see photos of the team enjoying the music, photo booth and spectacular city skyline from our rooftop!

We can’t wait to share what else Acquians have accomplished next month. In the meantime, you can vote for Acquia as a finalist in BostInno’s Coolest Companies of 2019!
