Samsung and Oculus to turn Galaxy smartphones into VR headsets
By collaborating with Oculus to bring smartphone technology and capability to headsets, Samsung looks like its trying to beat everyone on the quest to virtual reality.
"Samsung will of course provide hardware for its VR device, but Oculus is handling software development.
The upcoming product will allegedly place a strong emphasis on media consumption (think Sony's HMZ line) rather than gaming, which is what Oculus is initially focused on."
GE's lights can send deals to shoppers' smartphones
General Electric is planning on rolling out a LED lighting system that can can detect the position of shoppers and send deals to their smartphones based on where they are in the store. With Apple's iBeacons and recent plans unveiled by Phillips for their lighting system, the personalized shopping experience space is becoming highly competitive.
"There's one key difference between GE and Philips' lights, however.
Both lighting systems are capable of communicating with phones through their cameras, sending data across flickers of light that are imperceptible to humans, but GE's can also use Bluetooth LE, a far more common solution."

Drupal Platform Acquia Raises $50M
Acquia, the digital business solutions provider for Drupal, today announced that it has raised a $50 million financing round led by New Enterprise Associates.
"With today’s round, Acquia has now raised a total of $118.6 million, and the company says it plans to use the new funding to scale its sales and marketing efforts, as well as to double down on big data marketing, personalized engagement and commerce.
These areas of focus show Drupal’s flexibility, but also leave no doubt that Acquia’s ambitions range far beyond basic content management."
