Did you hear? Acquia acquires Mollom

We’re delighted to announce the acquisition of Mollom (www.mollom.com), the spam blocking solution that has already stopped nearly a billion spam messages. The fact that Mollom was co-founded by Dries Buytaert, also one of the founders of Acquia, makes Mollom an even more a perfect fit Acquia. We are determined to provide the best and most innovative services and Mollom, with its superior and unique technology, allows us to expand our social publishing and web-experience-management services to our current customers and to an even broader audience.

Basically, Mollom kills spam dead while allowing only high-quality content (generated by real humans) to be posted on your site. It works in tandem with CAPTCHA and uniquely scores user-generated content, based upon the scoring system you desire. This leads to better quality content, which means more user participation, and usually higher SEO results. So using Mollom is smart and helps you focus on your core business, instead of wasting time fighting off spambots.

Of course, we already use Mollom at Acquia and so do many of our customers. We’re in great company. Mollom is used by leading brands around the world including Sony Music, Adobe, Fox News, Oxfam, Twitter, Stanford University and Warner Records – just to name a few. If you need any more great references, check out the customer quotes on Mollom.com. Many of them sound just like this one:

“What makes Mollom different, from an end-user's point of view, than the other spam solutions I have tried (Akismet, Spam Karma, etc.)? Nothing, or rather, you have to do nothing, which is a whole lot less than what you do with the others. In fact, you don't have to deal with queues, moderation, constant attention and emails about all of the above. In other words you don't have to do anything. Oh, yeah, and the fact that it just plain works. I have yet to see a spam post on my site.”

Whether through podcasts, social media, mobile, websites, wikis or community forums, user generated content will continue to explode. Mollom supports Acquia’s goal of providing the most complete solution for you to communicate with your customers regardless of the platform. We’re accelerating our investment in this area and will soon launch additional services and functionality. So stay tuned.

Even though Mollom is not exclusively a Drupal product, Acquia is committed to building great web experiences and will continue to invest in products like Mollom that provide benefits to Acquia’s Drupal customers while making the web a better place for all of us.

Check out www.mollom.com to learn why we’re so excited about the new addiiton to our family.
