Experience the Future of Drupal with Acquia at DrupalCon Europe 2020

Even in the face of unforeseen challenges brought on by the pandemic, this year the Drupal community once again proved our strength and perseverance. We saw how people came together with passionate fundraising efforts to support the Drupal Association and pull off the very first all-virtual DrupalCon with DrupalCon Global this July. And of course, this year also saw the landmark release of Drupal 9! This achievement would not have been possible without the steadfast support and dedication of community members and contributors around the world.

As Dries recently reported in his yearly “Who sponsors Drupal development?” post, Europe remains the largest source of Drupal contributions globally. DrupalCon Europe 2020 takes place from 8-11 December, and Acquia is proud to participate in this global online event as a Diamond Sponsor.

After almost five years of hard work and thousands of hours of work by the community, Drupal 9 is a project to be proud of and truly exemplifies the theme of DrupalCon Europe, “The Power of The Open Web.” This year’s keynote speakers at DrupalCon Europe will focus on all the ways we can work to spread the mission of diversity, inclusivity and collaboration across our worldwide community — all in service of a truly open web experience.

Keynotes: Progress and Diversity for Drupal

During his annual Driesnote, Drupal Founder and Acquia CTO and Co-Founder, Dries Buytaert will reveal the latest state of the Drupal project and Drupal’s future roadmap. Come see what’s next for Drupal 9 and 10 by joining Dries on Wednesday, 9 December - 14:30 CET at the main stage.

In a joint keynote on 8 December - 16:30 CET, leaders from the Drupal Core Initiative Team will present on the work they’re doing to improve Drupal core while organizing community events and promoting Drupal to a wider audience.

We’re also looking forward to hearing from featured keynote speakers, Eriol Fox, Lead Designer at Open Food Network and Siri Chilazi, Research Fellow, Women and Public Policy Program, Harvard Kennedy School, as they take to the stage to talk about Drupal and open source as a force for good and advocate for a more equitable space. Attendees can see Eriol’s keynote, “Centring humans and their rights in Open Source Design,” Thursday, 10 December - 8:30 CET and Siri’s keynote, “Building Diverse, Inclusive and Equitable Communities,” Thursday, 10 December - 13:45 CET.

Connect with Acquia and Make the Migration to D9 Easier Than Ever

DrupalCon Europe will feature over 100 sessions spread across five unique tracks: Agency & Business, Clients & Industry Experiences, Makers & Builders, Open Web & Community and Users & Editors. Many of our own digital and open source leaders will give presentations each day on everything from the power of open marketing, Drupal security concerns, the rise of low code development and much more!

DrupalCon has always been one of the most exciting and enjoyable ways to connect with others in the open source space, celebrate our success and explore what our growth looks like going forward. This year, Acquia is focusing on helping everyone have the smoothest and fastest Drupal 9 migration possible. Make sure to stop by the Acquia booth to see how we’re working to accelerate your migration!

Recently at Acquia Engage, we unveiled Acquia Migrate, a collection of tools designed to get organizations on Drupal 9 faster than ever before. No matter if you’re making the switch from D7, D8 or another CMS, see how you can upgrade your sites in record time.

We’ll have updates on more of the sessions you won’t want to miss soon, but till then you can explore the full DrupalCon Europe schedule. We can’t wait to attend and enjoy the total open web experience.
