Acquia Selected by London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to Transform the Digital Experience for All its Stakeholders

LONDON - 21 March 2017 — Acquia, the digital experience company, today announced that it has been selected by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), a world-leading centre for health research and postgraduate education, to transform the school’s website from the ground up.

The project, which is now underway, will radically overhaul the school’s digital capabilities in order to attract and engage with a larger pool of prospective students, investors, staff and alumni. To deliver on these aims, Acquia is working with school staff to develop a new website that will enhance the user journey, optimise the digital experience on mobile devices and improve the CMS usability for the school.

Acquia was selected by LSHTM through the government’s procurement platform G-Cloud to deliver the new services. As part of the process, Acquia also helped the school select a new design partner, Domain7, from a strong shortlist.

Jon Faulkner, Chief Information Officer, LSHTM said “Having a modern, vibrant website is key to our digital strategy, and it was clear that our old website was fast becoming unfit for purpose and holding us back from fulfilling our true potential.

“From a user point of view, the website looked old fashioned, it was difficult to find the information you wanted quickly, and much of the content was out of date. From a management point of view, it was difficult to make sure that we had a regular stream of relevant content and maintain the website, not least because our support was based in the US with a significant time difference.

James Murray, Acquia General Manager, said: “The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-class institution and needed to align its digital strategy more closely with its high-calibre reputation. This project has enabled Acquia to flex its muscles and show what we can do in terms of making our clients ‘digitally fit’. Acquia has now delivered a slick, modern digital framework that will help the organisation achieve its goals. It just goes to show that even the most traditional of institutions like LSHTM, which was founded in 1899, need to take a forward-thinking digital approach to target modern audiences.”

Commenting on the delivery and support, Faulkner continued: “Domain7 and Acquia have the right credentials in terms of infrastructure, people, skill set and support to help us solve these issues. We now have clear objectives, outcome-driven comms and status updates, and so far, Domain7 and Acquia are delivering beyond expectations in terms of design and development. The entire team are professional, responsive, adaptive and innovative — and I’d recommend them to anybody looking to execute their digital strategies more effectively.”

The new website is on course to launch in April 2017.
