Following on the heels of the video about pronouncing our name, we've released one that's more serious -- and that, I hope, will be useful to the Drupal community at large. It's the Acquia Story, three minutes that covers what Drupal is, who we are, what we offer, and how we engage with the community to grow the Drupal ecosystem.
Hear people on the streets of Boston pronounce "Acquia", with Dries telling the story of how our name came to be, in this great video.
To create it, social media maven Evan Duffy and interns EB Pruett and Livy Holmes went into downtown Boston with a Flip cam for the day. Then AFD Creative (which also created our intro animation) edited it down to the masterpiece you see now.
The Drupal Gardens sites submitted for our recent contest were fantastic and it was really hard to pick just one winner. The site designs were judged on their creativity, attractiveness, and complexity. The winner is Susan MacPhee who built Ipswich Ale Brewery, the website for a New England craft brewer. Congratulations Susan - enjoy your new iPad!
Four weeks ago, the Drupal Gardens team introduced the image gallery feature to all Drupal Gardens sites. While that was great, we wanted galleries to be true media galleries, and so last week the team introduced video support to galleries in a seamless way. Built on top of the awesome Media module and supporting Media: YouTube module, it's architecture is easily extended to support video from many other sources in the future.
Acquia Hosting now supports video transcoding! Several hosting customers had requested access to ffmpeg, and we're pleased to augment our industry-leading Drupal hosting service with this important capability. One of our current customers uses this feature to customize their videos to whichever format their end users desire.
We're always looking for ways to improve the capabilities, reliability and performance of Acquia Hosting. Please keep the suggestions coming!
I hung out Monday night with Dries Buytaert, founder and creator of Drupal, the open source content management system that is now powering tens of thousands of websites, including Ourmedia, The Onion, Sony Music artists (see myplay.com) and many others. Also spent time with Jay Batson, co-founder of Acquia, which just launched an important new partnership with Drupal on Tuesday.
In this 11-minute interview, Dries talks about Drupal, the power of open source publishing, and a new partnership with Acquia, the Boston-area company that gives citizen publishers a free publishing platform and tech support to get it up and running.
Thanks to everyone who voted for Acquia in the first round of Enterprise 2.0's people's choice (aka American Idol) contest for their Launchpad event. We received 80 votes in the first round and made it to Round 2. The top 4 vote getters in Round 2 will present on stage at the Enterprise 2.0 Conference.

Acquia is participating in another Launch Pad event, this time for the Enterprise 2.0 conference. For this Launch Pad event, technology companies were asked to submit a one-minute video pitch to be voted on by the Enterprise 2.0 community. There will be multiple rounds, with four companies eventually on stage at the Enterprise 2.0 conference to present and demonstrate in front of a live audience.

This video highlights the new theming features of Drupal 6. The themes, Pixture, Wabi, and Twilight, are the work of Hide Ito (Pixture), and utilize not only the Farbtastic color picker, but also the ability to adjust the width of the layout, and in the case of Twilight, a configurable header silhouette.
