Meet Heather James: Building Bridges to Drupal

Heather James, Acquia's Manager of Learning Services, has been in and around Drupal since the version 4 days. She says people new to Drupal "have an easier time at this stage coming to Drupal" than they did 6 years ago. Nonetheless, her early experiences learning how to use Drupal are still reflected by the questions people ask learning Drupal today. This, combined with her excitement about Drupal's potential and her background as an educator, motivated her to become a Drupal trainer. She is passionate about education ("When you're teaching, you're building a bridge from what people know to what they don't know.") and says about her job at Acquia, "I feel like I have a patron who helps me do the things I like to do, which is get out there and teach people."

Comprehensive 5 day Drupal 7 training courses in the US and Canada

View a list of dates for this comprehensive Drupal training course over 5 days.

Have you inherited a Drupal site? You may be wondering how you can improve on and expand your site.

This five day package would suit junior developers with no prior experience with programming. These may be a team of developers at a digital agency. Or it may be cross-functional teams from across an organization. This package is suitable at the start of a project where a team will want to get familiar with how Drupal works to plan and implement. Or it is also suitable when moving development and customization in-house after another agency has done the development work previous.

Meet Hernâni Borges de Freitas: Drupal at scale

Hernâni Borges de Freitas, a Technical Consultant at Acquia, specialises in "Doing lots of things with Drupal at scale: training and helping people go the right direction in Drupal. Acquia is bringing Drupal to different markets and perspectives, to big companies who want to use it to achieve better results. We make sure they go in the right direction. When they choose Drupal, we help make sure they choose the right solution, adapted to their needs, and that can grow with their business, instead of some closed solution that dies after a while."

Working smarter: Drupal-enable your team with training

In the landscape of web development, working and learning are converging. I think about this quite a bit at Acquia as we keep tuning our courses and training program.

We often focus on the technical benefits of adopting Drupal. However, it occurred to me the other day, there are potential auxiliary benefits in terms of empowering staff by using Drupal. Drupal has the potential to increase job satisfaction and motivation by posing a fundamental shift in how individuals and organization work.

Meet Acquia's training partners

By Heather

I'm going to be blogging about our training partners and their trainers this summer, because they are awesome, and I'm very proud of what they're doing. All of our training partners are really busy. For example, Doug Vann is traveling around the US to teach and consult, soon he'll be in Austin on July 9-13 for a full week of training courses with NxtTeam. It's a good thing he doesn't also have to update and maintain his own materials.
