Almost 500 issues have been resolved in this initiative as of this submission making Drupal 8 a truly outstanding release for everybody looking to create even single language non-English sites but especially those making multilingual sites. This session aims to show you around all the great improvements and give tips as to how to best utilize the new solutions.

In the Era of the Small Screen, Localization is More Important Than Ever

If you plan on competing in the global marketplace—and chances are, you eventually will—you have to make sure that every customer in every country has the opportunity to engage with your brand. After you mark off the logistical action items for globalizing your website, such as accommodating different time zones and currencies, you’re faced with a bigger question: How will we get users in this country to engage?

Drupalevents.ch logo
This Drupal code sprint in Switzerland is a week-long event which will define and implement tools that will let organisations efficiently translate content on websites powered by the open source Drupal content management system. The resulting plug-in, the Translation Management Module, will be a key tool for reducing both the cost and effort in maintaining multilingual Drupal websites.

Offering your website in multiple languages is becoming increasingly important, but translating your content into another language is no easy task. But for the 2% of the world's websites that run on the open source CMS Drupal, that task just got a little easier today. Acquia, the commercial company that provides support for Drupal has struck a partnership with the collaborative translation company Lingotek which will allow the Drupal community to translate large amounts of their content.

Lingotek can be embedded directly into Drupal through a set of APIs, which will give Drupal community members access to unlimited language translations.
