This release of Drupal Gardens has something for every site builder. In particular, support for custom date/time fields has been one of the most requested features. As is the Drupal Gardens norm, we kept the bar high and only added these modules after putting in enough design, engineering and testing to deliver a UX that was easier, but not watered down.
WOBURN, MA--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - Acquia, the leading provider of commercial solutions for Drupal, announced today that Twitter selected a Drupal-based community solution for its new Twitter developer website at dev.twitter.com. The site, which was developed with support and guidance from Acquia, launched today.
I love Google+. I know some people are underwhelmed from all the hype. But I like it. It may or may not be for the fact I have some abnormal dislike of Facebook (which I do). But I just think it's better. Easier to manage “circles” of all my different friends, family, co-workers, and strangers I meet in the street; easier to share photos (I already used Picasa); and just easier all around. It's the better way to social networking!
Acquia introduced Commons 2.0, the next generation of its open social business software solution. The new version features enhanced flexibility to choose social interaction style for a community site, cloud installation and configuration within weeks, and enhanced control over designs, features and templates.
STILL there is confusion out there around open source solutions. I was reading today’s great post by Caroline Dangson from the Dachis Group on “Building a Business Case for Customer Community," when one line derailed my concentration on the topic enough to make me write this. Caroline was outlining a great plan for building a detailed business case for customer communities, when I read this line in step 10:
Social business is no longer a nice to have, but now a business imperative to improve customer engagement, build loyal partner networks, and improve internal collaboration. All of the most popular web sites on the Internet today — meaning the most visited and most engaging — are either social networks or online communities. It is now a leading trend that these social elements take place within a company or organisations own online space, providing a number of user and stakeholder benefits.
DRAPER, UT, May 4, 2011 - Lingotek, the leader in collaborative translation solutions, today announced a partnership with Acquia, the enterprise guide to Drupal. Working together, Lingotek and Acquia will offer Lingotek's Collaborative Translation Software to the Drupal community allowing Drupal community members to translate large amounts of content.
Today Acquia submitted a short video to promote the next major release of our social software distribution – Drupal Commons 2.0 – to Launch Pad for voting by the public for time on the Enterprise 2.0 stage in Boston on June. Voting is open to the public – so we need your vote!
Military software developers are getting a social network that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) hopes will make them more productive and boost code sharing and reuse.
As we reported earlier this week, DISA is basing the Forge.mil Community on Acquia's version of Drupal Commons, a social networking extension of the open source Drupal Web content management platform.
By choosing a social environment based on Drupal, DISA was able to customize the open source software to achieve a seamless integration between the Forge.mil community and the software collaboration environment based on SourceForge. "I don't think we could have gotten any other product as integrated as we have" with the same level of time and effort, Gahafer said.
