Acquia at BAD Camp 2012 – see you there!

I am pleased to be able to announce that Acquia is a core sponsor of this year's Bay Area Drupal Camp. We've been part of BAD Camp and sponsored before, but it's a privilege to be part of making Drupal's largest and best free, annual event a reality again this year. And we're so excited about everything going on: hiring, sessions, summits, and more! Old friends and new, stop by our table and say hi.

Evolving product: Drupal Commons

The Drupal Commons 3.x interactive demo was posted recently, and we’d love your feedback.

But in the meantime, I'll go into the reasons Drupal Commons software was redesigned, our approach and some of the tough challenges we faced. In a future post, I'll get into the details of the design process.

Mission statement: Drupal Commons empowers communities with easy-to-use collaboration tools so that they can answer questions, share solutions and self-organize.

Improving Drupal governance

As a result of Randy Fay's blog posts and Drupalcon Denver core conversation on Drupal governance (see show notes for links), Dries Buytaert convened a working group to define the first steps in the refinement of Drupal governance. In this episode, I sit down with the working group members to talk about what they have been working on, what they have accomplished, and what the next steps are in defining what governance in the Drupal community should look like.

What is DrupalCon?

Those of us getting really excited that it is almost time for DrupalCon again sometimes need to explain to our friends, colleagues, or family members what all the fuss is about.

Explaining DrupalCon

Have you ever had trouble putting it into words? "Yeah, Mom, we sit in rooms together and write code! ... Yes, I do that all year ... Yes, I talk to these people online all the time ... But DrupalCon is incredible because it's so ... y'know, great! I met Dries! I committed a patch with Webchick!"

Alex Bronstein talks at DrupalCon Denver about how his job in the Acquia OCTO (Office of the CTO) lets him make a difference to the development and ongoing improvement of Drupal 8.
