Leverage Drupal, Shibboleth, and OpenSAML to Connect Federated Identity to the Cloud
Large organizations are gaining high levels of consistency and sustainability by standardizing on open source technologies. These organizations empower cloud applications with security and convenience by using their local authentication, attribute, and authorization infrastructure through federation. In particular when they want central authentication, authorization, and attribute information, they need to be able to manage access and security of their web applications and quickly deploy those applications in the cloud. Shibboleth and Drupal are becoming solutions of choice for many large universities, enterprises, and government organizations.
In this webinar, Nate Klingenstein from the Shibboleth core team will explain how Shibboleth builds on OpenSAML and SAML 2.0 to deliver a large scale multi-lateral deployment of secure web applications with both robust user authentication and simple authorization features. Kieran Lal, Technical Director from Acquia, will join him and talk about how you can incorporate these solutions into your Drupal 6.x or 7.x site with the Shibboleth Authentication module, as well as the advantages of Acquia’s cloud solution to ensure performance and scalability of your website.
Attendees will learn:
- What are federated identity and Shibboleth?
- How Drupal, Shibboleth, and OpenSAML work together
- Benefits of using Shibboleth for federated identity
- Tips to get started building secure federated web apps in the cloud
