Notes from Drupal for Project Managers - Part 3 - Launching

Today we held Part 3 of our Drupal for Project Manager's course with Amye Scarvada @amye. We focused entirely on issues around launching. This is the project manager's opportunity to stave off any potential disasters at the point of going live. It's the project manager who can check that all considerations have been made, and even in some cases plan and test for rollback... *just* in case something goes pear-shaped.

Drupal How-To: Find great beginner tutorials on Drupal 7

In my first blog post, I outlined the main sources for fresh news and info about Drupal. In this post, I’ll round up the best blog sources for tutorials in the Drupal community.

Great Beginner Blogs Round-up

There’s such a large volume of great content coming out for Drupal lately for both new and experienced Drupal developers.

Drupal How-To: Keep on top of news and developments

If you’re new to Drupal you maybe haven’t noticed yet. Things more fast in Drupal. One of the mottos is: “The Drop is always moving”. It can be hard to find out what new tools and methods are becoming popular and where the action is. Good thing is, there’s lots of great sources with a high signal-to-noise ratio.

In this first blog post, I’m going to show you the main sources for fresh news and information about Drupal. In the next post, I’ll round up the best blogs and sources for tutorials in the Drupal community.

Meet Michael Hofmockel: Getting up to speed with Drupal

Michael Hofmockel is a technical consultant at Acquia, based in Ames Iowa. Like many Drupalists, Michael's background wasn't in computer science, but led him to Drupal nonetheless. As he puts it, "Drupal's great because you can come at it from almost any angle ... and we do!" Michael was building databases as a soil chemist at Duke University. When he needed a web interface for a database, "I decided not to build it for myself, tried Drupal and I never needed anything else again!"

Drupal Goes to College

Starting in September, I’ll be teaching a 10 week long course at Queen's University Belfast in their Open Learning Program. Register now for this course £110.00.

Acquia has been working closely with colleges to deliver Free student Drupal training on campus. But we're working to expand Drupal's reach into higher education by developing this 10 week course.

Meet Acquia's training partners

By Heather

I'm going to be blogging about our training partners and their trainers this summer, because they are awesome, and I'm very proud of what they're doing. All of our training partners are really busy. For example, Doug Vann is traveling around the US to teach and consult, soon he'll be in Austin on July 9-13 for a full week of training courses with NxtTeam. It's a good thing he doesn't also have to update and maintain his own materials.

Site building is for coders too.

New to Drupal, but you're an experienced coder? Drop the API, and step away from the command line.

In one of our most popular webinars of 2011 about developing with Drupal, developer Camilla Jensen (naxoc) admitted that- even with her experience with J2EE and PHP development, much of her work on a typical Drupal project starts with *research*.
