Acquia Podcast 30: Lev Tsypin on MailChimp Module

One of the needs any large site has is to be able to send email to members using tools such as mailing lists. MailChimp is a service that allows you to do just that very easily, and the MailChimp module integrates the MailChimp service with your Drupal website. In this episode I talk with Lev Tsypin, author and maintainer of the module as we discuss everything MailChimp in Drupal, including some exciting new features in the D7 version.

I love the integration and the planned features for the 7.x-2.x version.
Thanks for this podcast!

Thanks for all your work on the Mailchimp module. So did you say the Amazon SES sub-module was coming soon or just coming?

Also it sounds like this feature is only slated for D7. Is this correct? I saw the patch on Drupal.org for D6 that I have yet to try for a new project.

I know Drupal is ready when it's ready. I am just trying to decide whether to build a new project on D6 or D7.

Thanks again.

I'd say coming soon. No guaranteed dates, but we're hoping to release an alpha of the 7.x-2.x branch in the next couple weeks. That's not to say it will be ready for production at that time, though.

As for D6, our current plans are to not add significant new features, like SES integration, in the core module. That said, Andrew M Riley, who submitted the patch, indicated he's going to create a standalone project to house it, http://drupal.org/node/1085448.
