Bloomberg Leveraging Apple TV, Amazon Fire to Build Global Brand
If you’ve heard of Bloomberg, you probably associate the brand with breaking financial news and in-depth market coverage. With the impact of digital though, Bloomberg is looking to create awareness to establish itself as one of the top brands to consume news across even more platforms according to Aviad Stein, senior global manager at Bloomberg L.P.
Stein is focusing his efforts in establishing Bloomberg as a global thought leader in providing digital content in the shape of news, video, etc. A key piece of his strategy, as it turns out, is Apple TV, Amazon Fire and other breakthrough channels of content distribution and syndication.
An Oculus-Powered Tour of Yale Will Change How Prospective Students Evaluate Schools
Oculus Rift is making some serious headway (see what I did there?) to help bring virtual reality to campus tours. Because of this, Oculus Rift is partnering with YouVisit, a company that makes virtual campus tours so that prospective students can see what the college of their choice is really like.
"The feature is a clever use of their large cache of 360-degree photos that render nicely on the immersive display.
Instead of dragging your mouse around to see what the other side of the football stadium looks like, you can crane your neck and spot the marching band."
Don't Reinvent the Wheel, Open Source it
Last week, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk announced that the company would open source their entire patent portfolio and exemplified how organizations can drive innovation by adopting open source practices and principles throughout their entire businesses - beyond software development.
In particular, Musk highlighted that top human resources – talented, motivated people – are what drive the success of organizations, not patents. Talented people gravitate towards environments that foster innovation and growth, where they’ll have an opportunity to work on new and interesting challenges.
iPod Mastermind In Charge of Google Hardware
Google's hardware division is in good hands as they now have the former SVP of Apple's iPod division, Tony Fadell as the originator and mastermind behind the first iPods on the market. Fadell was CEO at Nest, and has moved over into this new role after the acquisition.
"Based on the report, Fadell "owns" the consumer hardware division at Google—that includes everything from the Pixel to Chromecast."
