The DrupalCon Portland Sessions every Webmaster should attend!

Hello DrupalCon! Have you arrived yet? DrupalCon Portland starts officially tomorrow but come and get your badges and awesome t-shirts. I was going through the session list to pick out what sessions would be most beneficial for me and I wanted to share what I thought were the sessions every digital marketer or Webmaster should attend.
DrupalCon Portland
Tuesday:
9:00 am – 10:00 am
OR 204 - Blackmesh
The Future of Views
This session is directed towards site builders and people who have used views before. Views are very powerful in Drupal and as a marketer have allowed me to pull dynamic content fast and keep my website up to date. Drupal 8 will have views in core so I hope to learn what changes will be made from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 in views and how to best prepare for this change. Hope to see you there.

The wonders of Drupal
This is a beginner session about Drupal, Community and DrupalCon. This session is always given before the “Driesnote” and is fun and educational. You will get some good tips about how to get the most out of your time at DrupalCon. Enjoy

Asset Management in Drupal 8
This session is focused for front-end developers but as a Webmaster you should know how these things work. This session is going to cover how assets are declared and managed in Drupal 8 and discuss the new possibilities. I think this is worth a listen.

The current state of Drupal 8 Keynote
Dries Buytaert gives an update on the state of Drupal 8, feature freeze and code freeze, also giving a glimpse of what's beyond Drupal 8 after we have a successful release. This is a session everyone at DrupalCon should attend!

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

What users want (or why webpage’s are dead)
This session is meant to export the users needs when it comes to websites. As we become more mobile and social, how should we be thinking about information access and delivery? What do users really want from their devices and services? How is Drupal addressing these changing needs? Learn about these needs in this session. I will be there!

Thriving in a world of change Keynote
Karen McGrane is going to walk us through her experiences with UX design and content strategy and how Drupal is the future of adaptive content. Every digital marketer should listen to what she has to say to keep your site moving for the customer.

Mistakes Agencies Make
We have all made our own mistakes but learning from someone else’s can help us as well. In this session will bring you through Seth Brown’s mistakes in hopes that it will save you from making them.

The engineer, the designer, and the director Keynote
During this keynote Michael Lopp will discuss how to build the perfect team and the skill sets to need to work together to build what you need.

10:45 am – 11:14 am

Charting a new direction. Why the CEO matters more than the developer
This session talks about how to compete with commercial CMS systems we need to start talking to the marketer and less to the IT department. We need to start talking about A/B Testing and marketing automation, all things I do on a daily basis. I’m going to this session to hear what others think about this topic.

Responsive discovery: The underpants of a great web project
Responsive design is what users expect and need with all the devices we have. As I’m writing this blog I’m using my laptop, iPhone and iPad! This session will talk about the successes and failures of responsive design discovery and help us find our way.
