Minneapolis: Hub of the Drupalverse?
As a native Bostonian, I'm pretty hesitant about calling something the "hub" of anything. I have to go reconsider my instinct as I look at the Drupal events scheduled for the week of May 5-11 in Minneapolis. That week, the Twin Cities will host two opportunities for training, the Drupal search sprint, and a the Minnesota Bar Camp (minnebar). For that week, the Hub of the Drupalverse has clearly shifted to the American Midwest.
Kicking off the agenda is the [Lullabot Training](http://www.lullabot.com/training), who will offer their theming and development workshops. Local Drupalers will be attending the [Advantage Labs Basic Training](http://www.advantagelabs.com/drupal_basic_training) which is in progress over four weeks starting this past Monday. These sessions provide excellent opportunities for getting started with Drupal whether your a developer, themer, or administrator.
Toward the end of the week, there's the [Drupal Search Sprint](http://groups.drupal.org/node/4102/minnesota-search-sprint) from May 9-11. Acquia's [Robert Douglas](http://www.robshouse.net) organized the sprint after the search BOF at DrupalCon in Boston. The sprint will bring together several key thinkers to work on improvements to search design and implementation. In preparation for the sprint, the the participants have started [working through the search issue queue](http://groups.drupal.org/node/4102/minnesota-search-sprint). From chatting with Robert, I'm expecting to see some great outcomes for improving search in Drupal 7.
Top off the week of Drupal goodness by attending the [minnebar](http://barcamp.pbwiki.com/MinneBar) unconference, which has so far signed up close to 150 participants. Add to this some out-of-town Drupalers and the mix will lead to some serious sharing and fun for the Drupal community.
