Acquia Introduces Two New Cloud Hosting Offerings
Proven Drupal Cloud Platform Adds Developer Self-Service Options to Its Cloud Hosting Platform and Rebrands Premier Hosting Services
Woburn, MA – February 28, 2011 – Acquia, the enterprise guide to Drupal, today announced new packaging options for its Drupal cloud hosting platform - Acquia Dev Cloud and Acquia Managed Cloud. Already in use today by more than 140 clients, Acquia Managed Cloud is a highly available, managed cloud service offering fully redundant clustered server environment in combination with Acquia’s 24x7 enterprise Support. Acquia Dev Cloud is a new offering, a self-service hosting platform targeted at professional developers running one or more sites on a single server instance.
Acquia Dev Cloud is built on Acquia’s proven cloud hosting platform that is currently serving more than 2.2 billion HTTP requests per month. Dev Cloud enables developers to manage their entire Drupal workflow process from development to staging and production on their Dev Cloud server. Available for purchase with a Professional, or the new Developer subscription to the Acquia Network, Dev Cloud gives professional developers unparalleled freedom to manage multiple client sites on a single server directly from the command line, or from within the Acquia Network.
“Acquia Dev Cloud is the logical next step in our effort to provide tools for the entire Drupal developer experience,” said Dries Buytaert, chief technology officer and co-founder, Acquia. “From our desktop installer and Drupal Gardens’ site export capability to our cloud hosting platforms, Acquia’s mission is to offer fantastic tools that streamline the process of building extraordinary Drupal sites.”
For business-critical sites that require a fully redundant, highly available environment, Acquia Managed Cloud delivers a high performance infrastructure for sites with greater traffic loads. Available today in North America and Europe, with Asia coming online this year, Acquia Managed Cloud has been running in production for over 18 months. Currently operating over 600 servers to support more than 140 customers, Acquia Managed Cloud gives site owners the on-demand elasticity they demand to respond to spikes in traffic without interruption. Numerous customers are currently running sites on Acquia Managed Cloud including Al Jazeera Live Blog, California Closets, New York State Senate, Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Mother Jones.
“The elasticity in Acquia Managed Cloud has proven invaluable for many of our customers,” said Jim Salem, Vice President Platform Services, Acquia. “We have seen traffic spikes of 10-20x on customer sites and are able to respond immediately on our Managed Cloud platform without service interruptions. A great traffic day should be a positive for every business and Managed Cloud ensures this is the case for Drupal site owners.”
