Google Glass' Health Care Challenge
Last evening I had the pleasure of sitting on a panel at an event hosted by Health Innovators discussing the future of medicine and specifically Google Glass. The event title was "Google Glass the new frontier in Healthcare Innovation?" and although I'm not sure how many converts were made, I did come away with knowledge of an incredible organization pushing medical thought leaders to push the boundaries of wearable tech.
One of my co-panelists, Sony Salzman of MedTech Boston told us about the ongoing Google Glass Challenge and some of the ideas submitted, the strict judging criteria and generally gave us insight into the brains focusing on Glass development in medicine.
Cutting Through the Noise: Can the CDO Help?
It’s so easy today to see a new piece of technology or the latest trend in social media and say, “Oh, we need to do that.” Brands have a plethora of options when it comes to finding ways to strategically reinvent or market a story or product. Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, wearable technology, big data; it all seems so overwhelming.
But as the final day of the Digital Innovation Strategy Summit came to a close in New York City, digital strategists and innovation leaders alike echoed similar sentiments: Don’t go to the shiny objects, go where your customers are.
New York Times Embraces Digital-First Mindset
It’s hard to find people today that want a physical newspaper delivered to their doorstep. This is the challenge for some of the leading new organizations, many of whom thought of them as “newspapers” until recently. As in so many other disrupted industries, digital is the primary way consumers get their news. One company that is leading the way in directly engaging the digital consumer is the New York Times.
CDO Club Identifies the Top 10 Most-Followed Chief Digital Officers on Twitter
The CDO Club has identified Sree Sreenivasan, Chief Digital Officer at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, as the most followed Chief Digital Officer on Twitter, with a total of 55,400 followers.
Sreenivasan, who only last week was named as the number one Chief Digital Officer influencer based on his Klout score (tied with Jason Hirschhorn, former CDO at MTV with a score of 81), began as CDO at the Metropolitan Museum in August 2013 after serving as the first Chief Digital Officer at Columbia University from 2012 to 2013.
