Hi, our presentation was more on loyalty redemption.

Unfortunately, out client already a full loyalty engine system that rewards point on various activities.

We had to rely on api with this existing system to fetch balance points.

Further on your query, the requirements you have highlighted can easily be achieved using userpoints and rules module.
There is also a userpoints_ubercart module available that allows points as payment mode during checkout.
