Hey Lisa,

Although there are many things we love about Drupal and its popular distribution packages. We at http://www.webmar-design.com feel that Commons v.3.x will likely be the best Drupal distribution released in 2012 and seeing how the word through the grapevine is that Commons v.3.x will be powering GDO it seems that Drupal.org agrees as well. In light of that we can only see good things ahead for Drupal Commons users even as we approach Druapal 8 release next year.
I am actively testing the dev release and reporting in the issue queue in hope that will help you guys focus on what you do best: Develop Amazing Drupal Social Networking Distributions :)
