You'll appreciate just what an amazing setup this is. We were an "early adopter" of DevCloud and have nothing but good things to say about it!

Whilst it's pretty straight forward to set up your own LAMP stack, this level of performance tuning and multi-environment setup is *really* hard to get right. Throw in Acquia Search, Mollom, New Relic Monitoring and version control and there's no looking back.

Being able to host multiple smaller clients on the same server (and a server we can select the size of) is the big selling point for us. This level of high performance environment is now affordable - we couldn't have considered this before when the only option was Managed Cloud.

It's also reassuring to know that there are real Drupal experts at the hosting centre who aren't going to turn round and say "it's something in the application layer, we can't help with that".
