Client Advisor Webinar - Drupal Staging and Deployment Best Practices
Client Advisor Webinar - Drupal Staging and Deployment Best Practices
One of the more complex problems in managing large Drupal projects is keeping development, staging and production environments in sync. As projects grow in complexity including multiple developers and more features it becomes ever more important to have a reliable, repeatable process for deploying new functionality to the production website. In this webinar we'll cover:
- Using version control for your Drupal project
- Migrating your code, files and database between sites
- Providing developers environments for effective development
- Setting up sites for repeatable testing and deployment

I am wondering if you have made the database scrubber code and other snippets that were shown in this Webinar available for download. This presentation, to me, was the best I have ever seen. Maybe it had so much information that I wanted to know, I am not sure, but it was an excellent learning experience. It was paced just right, new information with great delivery by the speaker. Thanks for posting both the video and the slideshow on your site. If you have decided not to post the code, would you point me in a direction that I could flesh it out myself? I am a solo developer in the Midwest, very thirsty for in-depth information like what was presented here. I will be attending my first DrupalCon in Chicago this coming March, see you guys there!

Hi James,
Indeed they will be posted. Things were a little busier than expected so it's taken a bit more time than hoped. They should be here this weekend.
Thanks,

Thanks Josh.
Thanks Josh.

I'm a solo developer about to deploy Commons on a data rich business site. I need to set up professional staging in self-defense if nothing else, but likely if I need to include other developers on this project.
Asked a question in today's Commons webinar that was not answered and realized when I saw this that the subject is big enough for it's own presentation.
I'd really appreciate a recipe to cook up a staging solution that is robust, managable by one guy (staging adds a lot of seeming overhead to the workflow) and yet baseline enough for a small team to take over later.
Would love to unpack, follow the directions, know that I am sensibly future-proofed and move on to customizing Commons for my client.
The advantage to Acquia would be to educate solo developers into a baseline of practices that they can become useful in small teams and as Acquia resources.
Cheers on Commons, BTW.
I was just about to roll my own and have elected to drop that route and deploy Commons with faith it's the better solution in the long run for this client.

Here a week later, I'm still hunting for those sanitization scripts to be posted.
Please, and thank you. :-)

Hi Joshua, this was indeed a great webinar. I would like to get some recommendations of the available SVN providers out there that can be used with Drupal. I've heard of some Drupal developers using Springloops (can you share any knowledge on this). Also can you share some of the advantages or disadvantages of some systems that you know of? If not can you just recommend a few to us?
Thanks much!
