Glad to meet you.

Until recently, I was working for Fidelity Investments designing interactions, themes and conducting usability tests. Fidelity was a great place for designers interested in user centered design. In fact, I wasn’t sure I was ready to leave. If I were to leave, it had to be for a great opportunity. None-the-less, I had been there for 5 years, and wanted a change - so I was open to ideas.

Then, I see a job posting for Acquia. I hadn’t heard of Acquia, but the position sounded like a good fit, so we talked. But before doing so, I downloaded Drupal to prepare myself. I hadn’t heard of it either, but I started it up and went to work.

I can’t even begin to express how impressed I was with Drupal. All I could see was opportunity for the community of designers and business types around me. I recall thinking, "there are so many people that are not in the know, that could immediately take advantage of Drupal."

Needless to say, I took the job. But before doing so, I talked to Dries Buytaert and Jay Batson about Acquia’s and Drupal’s goals. They, like me, expressed interest in helping Drupal become easy enough to use to empower anyone interested — regardless of technical knowledge. That was all I needed to hear.

I’m looking forward to working with this community and being part of this phenomenon that is Drupal.

When I saw they removed the User Interface position I was quite enthusiastic. It seems that you have a lot of experience with applications that span complex domains, which is great. Drupal's interface is still very much build amongst the implementation models so there are quite some challenges in culture and the interaction patterns.

We are currently working on a module that will allow you to do remote usability tests, which should allow you to apply different usability techniques in a fast setup(field testing!).

Drop by IRC sometime if you want to talk about all of this as most of it is in early development still.

You can bet I will. I'd love to hear more about any opportunities to collect user feedback.
