Szeged Usability Sprint - a HUGE success.
I wanted to genuinely thank everyone who participated in the usability sprint - particularly Roy for setting it up. The outcome was fantastic!
Together we targeted 4 problematic areas defined by the two usability tests and crafted high-level solutions for each. Item 3 got dismantled due to language barriers, but the others made significant progress. Item 2 resulted in a patch.
1. Night of the disappearing help page (http://groups.drupal.org/node/14387)
2. Where did my content go (http://groups.drupal.org/node/14423)
3. How to create structures for my content
4. The node/add form: Whoa! (http://groups.drupal.org/node/14428)
More importantly, we came together as a community interested in the common goal of enhancing the Drupal experience - especially for the beginner. We agreed to try to get together periodically rather than wait for the next DrupalCon - which in my opinion is a tremendous accomplishment. And, to put the icing on the cake, we've already redesigned GDO to help us organize and foster participation (thanks to Drumm and Kika). Awesome!
Last, we met with WebChick on the final day of the sprint, and outlined common goals and assigned tasks to several of the folks on site. You can see the details here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/14420.
One item I'm particularly excited about is trying to get the drupal community a license to Acrobat Connect Pro. At Acquia, on a weekly basis, we tap someone from the community and ask them to participate tasks on our Website.
Looking forward to future sessions. Stay tuned.

I'm glad to hear that the usability sprint was a huge success. One of the main reasons why it is so successful is because it targets beginner users.

I think it's great that you guys get together more often to get these things worked out instead of waiting for the next Drupalcon.. I am only assuming you guys were there in Boston last time...
