Pre-Sales Consulting Mission: Always Do Right by the Customer
Posted on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 by Chris Pliakas RSS
Someone once told me that 70% of all technology projects fail. Regardless of whether the statistic is true, it stuck to me like glue. As an engineer I always asked myself what I could have done differently to have made a project more successful, although it seemed the failures had much more effort put into them than the successes. When I joined Acquia as a consultant, I was surprised to see that many organizations were also experiencing the same anomaly. More...

Acquia Dev Cloud Rocks

Dev Cloud Rocks. This is the sentiment we’ve been hearing a lot from customers lately (and we tend to agree).
I had the privilege of speaking with Joey and Chris from SuperStar Media last week. They just launched chrisrock.com on Dev Cloud and are very happy. In fact, when I reviewed my notes from the call, I’d transcribed the word “amazing” no less than 5 times. Need I remind you, we’re talking about Cloud hosting for Drupal sites here... More...

Last week, we flew everyone at Acquia that joined before 2011, as well as their significant others (or someone of their choice) to the Caribbean to celebrate an incredible year. I wrote about the trip in my blog post titled "Acquia goes to the Caribbean". Now we're back from this amazing trip, I've uploaded my pictures to my Puerto Rico 2011 album and included some below. Work hard, live hard! More...

A new hire's first week at Acquia
Posted on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 by Amye Scavarda RSS
I'm excited to come on board with a whole bunch of other new hires (8 starting on one day!), so it's worth saying a little bit about what the on-site experience is like. I'm a remote employee based out of Portland, OR, so my first week was spent at the office in Woburn, MA to get to know the team. And it was a great week. I expected an office that was friendly, but... office-y. (Covers on the TPS reports, please.) Instead, I got an enthusiastic welcome from a vibrant start-up and I hope that other new hires can say the same. More...
Drupal SEO: The Intersection of Tech and Marketing
Posted on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 by Ben Finklea RSS
Many a well-formed Drupal site has been hacked to pieces by an "evil" Drupal-ignorant marketing agency. "Why? In heavens name, WHY?!" the developer cries as title tags are embedded into theme files, analyticscode is dropped into footer blocks, and mal-formed content is pastedinto node bodies. Devastated, they choke back the bitter taste of tears that only a quad-espresso from the Pasquini Livia in the kitchen could wash away.
OK, I'm exaggerating a little...not even espresso could wash those tears away. More...

How Drupal and Acquia Help Protect Against Web Attacks
Posted on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 by hwettach RSS
Security, or lack thereof, seems to be a popular theme these days, especially as it applies to web applications and even more specifically to open-source CMS. Earlier this week, Mathew Schwartz from InformationWeek wrote an article, Web Applications See Sharp Rise in Attacks, in which he referenced the latest HP DVLabs "2010 Top Cyber Security Risks Report" that brought into question the security of open source CMS applications.
