Acquia Expands Technical Team

Prominent open source contributors and industry veterans join social publishing pioneer

Andover, MA — June 9, 2008 — Acquia, a new software company offering commercial support for the Drupal social publishing system, today announced the addition of five new individuals to its technical team. With these new additions, Acquia, which was launched at Drupalcon in March, marks a 50-percent growth in company personnel.

“Acquia is growing rapidly as we progress towards our initial product launch later this year,” said Jay Batson, Acquia’s CEO and Co-Founder. “We need a world class team to help Drupal continue to lead the social publishing revolution, so it’s just incredibly satisfying to continue to attract so much rock star talent.”

The new members of the Acquia technical team include:

Chuck D’Antonio, Sr. Director of Professional Services. Chuck joined Acquia from HP, where he managed the global SOA software consulting practice, completing a journey that started at Systinet. Prior to Systinet, he was a principal consultant at eFORCE and Context Integration.
Paul Lovvik, Principal Engineer. Paul joined Acquia from Openwave Systems, where he was the architect and lead engineer of a development team working on a JavaScript application that serves as the front end of a highly scalable, feature-rich email system. Prior to Openwave he worked at Sun Microsystems on installation, radio frequency identification (RFID), and many projects aimed at developing a market for various Sun technologies.
Ethan Fremen, Sr. Technical Consultant. Ethan joined Acquia after years of freelance web consulting, where he worked with a variety of open source technologies including Drupal. Prior to joining Acquia, he worked at bayMountain as a systems engineer and founded iMeme, a web hosting provider.
Peter Wolanin, Sr. Drupal Engineer. Peter comes to Acquia from Signum Biosciences, where he was a Sr. Scientist. After discovering Drupal via the Howard Dean US presidential campaign in 2004, Peter has been a major contributor to Drupal core and has maintained a number of contributed modules.
David Rothstein, Drupal Engineer. David was most recently a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University, specializing in astrophysics. During his time at Cornell, David built a number of Drupal sites and became an active contributor to Drupal core.

These new Acquia team members are already hard at work on the delivery of Acquia’s commercially supported Drupal distribution, code-named “Carbon” and the value-added services that will become part of Acquia’s subscription offerings. These products are expected to become commercially available later this year.
